Camping

1. The claim is that parents and guardians need to be more aware of where their children are and what they are doing. This is unacceptable to parents who want to have a little time away from their kids.

2. Camping in mix gender groups is discouraged and investigated if brought to the attention of BYU. But shouldn't students have a choice whether to participate in something like that? God gave us our free agency so we could use it. Shouldn't we have the right to choose what we think is right? I think that if you go camping in a mixed gender group it is alright as long as the sleeping arrangements are appropriate.

  1. I 100% agree with the camping thought. If we were going to ban all things that could have a possibility of error we might as well get rid of dorm couches too.

  2. Very true, but it's just another thing to help protect us from temptations, you know? Yes we have our free agency, but that doesn't mean that the administrators of BYU don't want to help us to stay worthy of the temple and the Lord's blessings.

  3. I agree, parents can't expect for other people to take care of their kids.

  4. There are people who walk in to my apartment all the time sometimes without any warning. Isn't that the same thing as being at a camp site with friends?

  5. The mentallity of being at home/apartment/dorms is completly differnt. Can you truthfully say that you act the same with your parents and your friends? I know I don't, especially with the opposite sex. We can all say what we will and will not do, but the reality is, things happens.

  6. Things happen in the middle of the night on campus too. BYU should post a curfew for everyone to be home before it gets dark out. You're right Alex, things happen - everywhere.

  7. If everyone had to get home before dark what would happen to those of us who have jobs and need to be out after the sun goes down?
