Unacceptable Claims

Claim #1: Exercise is Bad For You
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGyNg7dtxiY
This video expresses the opinion that exercise is unhealthy—a claim that is unacceptable to almost everyone. We’ve always been taught that exercise is a part of a healthy lifestyle, but the video attempts to prove otherwise. This could change the way people think about weight loss and daily workout routines.
Claim #2: Crowded Buses and Less Frequent Stops Help Students
Many students, including myself, have complained about the impossibly crowded UTA buses that take students to campus each day. However, a high concentration of students that use the same means of transportation to and from school can encourage friend-making and a sense of community for new students. Riding the bus together can be an excellent ice-breaker, and being squished together into a seemingly impossible space like sardines is even more conducive to conversation. Also, fewer stops can help students to be more punctual, organized, and schedule-oriented.

  1. I know that I would have been late to class a few times if the bus had made more stops than it did. If you are standing by a bus sign, and the bus isn't already overflowing, then it will stop for you but why stop if nobody is going to get on?

  2. The claim about the buses is rather intersting. If I were to be cramped into a bus, I would complian, and so would the person next to me. Now that we have established common interest, it is as you said, friendship would being.

  3. Alex, your idea just brings to mind the saying "Misery loves company"... I agree, I think that an uncomfortable situation can create bonds between the people involved.
