An (Initially) Unacceptable Claim

Weight Loss without Diet?
http://www.medicinenet.com/weight_loss/article.htm
When you think of weight loss, one of the things that automatically come to mind is dieting. So to see someone say that you can lose weight without it makes you suspicious. It goes on to somewhat contradict itself by saying that certain foods and proportions should be avoided (dieting), but it does place more emphasis on the exercise part. You will lose weight if you exercise enough that your net calories is lower than the amount of calories you need to keep the weight. SO, if you exercise enough, you technically wouldn't have to diet.

My Claim
The United States health care system does not need major reform.

  1. Actually I agree with your claim. Welfare may need reform but health care reform seems to be causing more problems than it will solve.

  2. Katie, I agree with you on this one. I was watching an ad the other day from some political group, and I know you can believe everything they say, but it was a Canadian woman talking the health care struggles in Canada and how we are going the same way. It was interesting if nothing else.

  3. I agree that US health care doesn't need to be reformed. Out of the millions of people who don't have health care in the united states, about 55-60% don't want to have it or are self insured. Should we make them pay for those of us who aren't so well of?

  4. It's is hard to aruge whether or not healthcare needs to be reformed. Economically, no. Private individuals will seek their best interest, either getting healthcare themsevles, by private insurance or through group - like most insuranes today - or jsut not get them. It is their chioce. However, those who want insurance, and can't get it, their best interest would be for the government to give them them the insurance. So rahter than a major reform, why not an upgrade? Don't mess (or touch) private companies or people who don't want insurance and keep them totally out of the government prgrams. The tax money already used for healthcare now can be optimized to do what is necessary for those who need it.

  5. Lindsey, With the research and opinions I have been so far exposed to I would have to agree also. I too have had stories relayed to me from Canada concerning the horrible universal healthcare. One story was someone was sick and in order to get treatment had to cross the border and then pay triple in the United States because their insurance was valid only in Canada. What the use of insurance if you can't receive aid?

  6. Exercising is what helps you burn calories and fat, so I agree. Dieting can also be unhealthy, exercising is a necessity, we do it everyday in some form (like walking).
