1.Every Year at the same time the BYU Bookstore becomes the center of chaos. At the beginning of the year all the students come in to either buy the books they have procrastinated on buying or to return the books of a class that has been dropped. There are also long lines that take you hours to get through. I think that the books store should hire temporary employees during the first two weeks of school to help keep the lines down.
2. The BYUSA is putting together a student group to remodel the Wilkinson Center in order to making it appear more student friendly. The University has given them basically free rein within reason to make it more appealing to the students. This group is looking for suggestions fromo the students, since this building will be for the students. Does anyone have any good ideas about improving the Wilkinson Center?
3. I think that BYU is pushing the H1N1 virus a little too hard. We all know it is out there. There is no need to scare everyone on campus.

Actually, I think the bookstore does quite a good job of keeping the lines going. The lines get long, of course, but they move fast and it's just another way to meet new people! Okay, so that's a little overly optimistic, but still, there's really only so much room to work with and from what I saw, there were upwards of eighteen registers working at one time.
ReplyDeleteyeah, i think generally everyone is making too big a deal of H1N1. It isn't that much worse than a normal flu bug. So yes it's important to try and prevent the spread, but it's not as serious as they make it out to be.
ReplyDeleteIf BYUSA wants to make the Wilk more student friendly, make them get their stuff out of the way so there is room to walk
ReplyDeleteI think that it is good they are making a big deal out of the H1N1 virus. Last year no one was read for it and lots of people died. Especially with the large number of non-US citizens at BYU who may not fully understand the severity of the virus, I think it is important to do all we can to stop the spread of the flu.
ReplyDeleteYes some people have died from the H1N1 virus but just as many people die of regular seasonal flu as well but people aren't freaking out about that virus.
ReplyDeleteKatie I love meeting people the bookstore lines, or better yet when you see someone you know and it's this constant here you come and there you go as you weave back a forth. The return line is a lot worse, so you better hope you get it right the first time.
