Community Issues at BYU

1. The high cost of textbooks
2. The high cost of rent. Especially at the dorms, where the facility is very very old. How expensive is it to keep it up and running? It can't be too bad, so why charge us so much?
3. Some say that the honor code is too strict. However, I don't think that it is. Yes, it might be nice to not feel so tied down. But how would we keep our church standards and the great feeling on campus if we slack in the standards we keep?
4. Parking- we need more parking spots. We should also either eliminate all together or decrease the price of a parking sticker.

  1. I really think that they (the people who like to make money off of starving college students) just make things more difficult because they can. I think that it is not right for them to come up with new editions of books every semester. This makes it so that you always have to have the newest edition.

  2. As per your third point, I agree. The honor code is there for a reason and it is not just to put more restrictions on us. They really do keep us out of trouble when we follow them. It bothers me when people say they don't want to go to BYU just because of the honor code. My brother happens to be one with that opinion.

  3. I also agree with the Honor code point, as Sara said, it is to keep us out of trouble and try to help us live good, healthy, safe lives.

  4. The rent is expensive, when first saw the building I honestly was expecting more, especially for what they charge us.
