In the Disney movie Mulan, Captain Li-Shang (singing voiced by the great Donny Osmond), addresses his troops and inspires them to prepare for battle against the Huns through his authoritative and beautiful voice. He wants the audience, in this case his troops, to man up and focus on their battle. He repeatedly berates his weak troops and puts them down with lines such as, "you're spineless pale, pathetic lot, and you haven't got a clue." Then he tries to instill hope in them by declaring that, "somehow I'll make a man out of you."
Li-Shang also uses the chorus to inspire his troops with what they ought to become through the use of nature in metaphors. He implores his troops to be, "swift as a coursing river, with all the force of a great typhoon, with all the strength of a raging fire, mysterious as the dark side of the MOOOON!"
Oh and the song is Make a Man Out of You.
Oh and this isn't my real post, this assignment was too fun so I wanted to do another one.
And this is like my favorite disney song of all time, and not just because I'm Asian, and Mulan is you know... um.
